the secret about success

The world is filled with two types of people the rich and the poor. I have wondered why some people are very in some cases poor and some people are very rich in some cases. Some people say the rich or the successful people are successful because they are lucky, and the poor or the unsuccessful people are unlucky. Some people also think they are poor because it is their fate. They think they are born to be poor, and that, it is their destiny to be poor. They also think the rich are rich because it is their destiny and fate. They think the rich are born to be rich. Some also think that the poor are poor because there are some negative forces like witchcraft and demons that work against them. And the rich are the ones that have obtain favour from the Lord. Simply put the rich are blessed.
Well, let’s take each one of the statements above and examine them. The first one that I will like us to take is the luck factor. Let’s take this story as an example. There were two friends who lived in a poor village but very beautiful environment. Both of them had a dream to be a doctor.  Their names were Kofi and Kwame and they were both labourers on a farm. Kofi because of his dream to be a doctor worked hard and tried his best to save as much as he can. Because of his savings he was able to further his education. He used some of his savings to buy books about successful doctors. He took his time to read these books and focused on his education. Things sometimes became very rough and hard, but because of his passion for his dream he persisted and persevered. He even starved himself sometimes to use the money to pay his school fees and buy books to read. On the other hand Kwame wasted all his money on women and alcohol. Even though he had the dream, he didn’t make any effort to make his dream a success. The conclusion is Kofi ended up becoming a doctor, a successful one as such. Kwame ended up even at the age of 45 as a farm labourer. One day they met at Kofi’s house where his mother was present. They were discussing about their old life when Kofi’s mother asked them, why that you both started the same and yet Kofi is successful and Kwame is not. Kwame off course the first to react said, scratching his head, “well he was lucky, that’s why, but I wasn’t lucky at all, mother, things went very bad”. Kofi just shook his head and smiled.
So can Kofi’s success be described as luck? Here is the thing, there are laws and principles that govern the universe, and one of these laws is the law of cause and effect. It states that, to every effect there is a cause and to every cause there is an effect. It simply means that every condition, whether rich or poor, sad or happy that you are in is caused by an action that took place in your life. It means that everything that happens in our life is caused by something that we did whether consciously or unconsciously in the past. The truth is Kofi didn’t succeed because he was lucky but because of the kind of life he lived. He put passion and energy in his dream and worked very hard to make it work. Kwame on the other hand wasted his life and money on women and alcohol. Kwame’s’ poverty therefore wasn’t caused by not having luck but was caused by the way he lived his life. The point is nothing happens in life by chance. No one become successful by chance. Things happen to us in life by our choices. Whatever condition you may be in right now was caused by some choices you made some years ago. The condition of your life in the future, whether you become poor or rich will be caused by the choices you make today. We should always remember that we only reap what we sow. what you put or invest in life is what you get or reap in life. “Garbage in garbage out” Some people sows poverty in life and they expect to reap success. I mean you cannot invest in women and alcohol and expect to reap success. “To every action there is equal and opposite reaction”.  So if you are getting poverty reaction or sickness reaction, it simply means that your actions to life are poverty and sickness. Remember the reaction is equal only that it is opposite. There is also nothing in this world like nothing for something. It is always something for something. If you put nothing into life, you get nothing out of life. You ONLY get something out of life ONLY when you put something into life. And what you get out of life is determined solely by what you put into life. You sow cocoa you reap cocoa not mango.Another worrying and untrue ideology of many people is that rich or successful people are destined to be successful or in other words it’s their fate to be successful. And also it is the fate or destiny of some people to be unsuccessful. Let’s use Kwame and Kofi’s story once again. Was Kofi destined to be successful and Kwame destined to be unsuccessful? The answer is NO. Why? In the first place, what is destiny? Destiny simply means the end. It means the end of each and every one of us, whether you are born to be a teacher or a doctor that is your end. Therefore destiny means the purpose for which we were born in other words what God created us to do on earth. So if you say that it’s someone’s destiny to be poor you mean God intentionally created that person to be poor. God never intend for anyone to be poor or to suffer in life. What kind of God will our God be if he purposely and intently created some people to suffer in life and some people to prosper in life? God loves all people irrespective of their background he created each and every one of us and he loves us equally. Jeremiah 29:11 can prove to us that God intention for all of us is to live a healthy and a vibrant life. God says and I quote “I know the thought and plans I have for you, plans for welfare (prosperity) and peace (sound mind, confident in life) and not for evil (poverty, sickness, infirmities etc.), to give you hope in your final outcome (destiny or future). From Jeremiah 29:11 we can deduce that God’s intention for us is to live life of everlasting peace and prosperity but not poverty and sickness. Therefore God intend for everyone to be successful.
The question here is why then do some people end up very poor and unsuccessful. God created human beings in other words living beings not robots. God gave human beings their will to make decisions and make choices. I repeat God did not create robots. God does not control us like robots, he does not impose his will on us. For example God does not force anyone to accept Jesus Christ as his lord and personal saviour. God does not force anyone to be his son or even to obey him. Every human have the power to make any decision or choice he wills to make. Have you ever ask yourself why the all-powerful God allow some people not to obey him or even perish. So does God not have the power to make everyone believe in him or obey him? The answer is God has the power to make everyone believe and obey him but he will not or he does not because it takes away our will as humans. It will only make us look like robots and I don’t think God will like robots as his children.
The truth is God wills that everyone becomes his child and yet not all of us are his children. Men have their own will, they can decide to follow the will of God or not and God will never force us. And we suffer the consequences of our choices. For example, God gave his son to die for us and he says whoever believes in him shall have life and whoever does not believe in him shall perish the choice is yours. God wills that we all believe in his son and yet some have chosen not to. This explains that God does not impose his will on us. this is the point am trying to make, God wills that everyone live a successful, a happy and a vibrant life just as he wills that all souls be saved but this can only happen when we choose to live according to his will. God created the earth, he knows how the earth functions and He has given us his word to live by it to be successful, whether we live by it or not depends on us.
God says in psalm 1:1-3 that blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly nor stands in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down where the scornful and the mockers gather. 2 but his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. 3 and he shall be like a tree firmly planted by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper. From the verses above, God is simply saying that meditate and obey my word and you will be successful. Someone may decide to meditate and obey Gods word and he will be successful. And someone may decide the opposite and will be a failure. So can you say that the one who decide to obey Gods word will become successful because of fate or destiny? Probably yes every one of us has the destiny to be successful but our choices endorse our destiny. This simply means that you can choose to follow your destiny or not; man has the power change his destiny. Therefore successful people choose to follow their destiny whiles failures rewrite their destiny by their choices. He knows that if he wants to be successful he has to follow God’s precepts and therefore he has chosen to follow God’s precepts which means he has chosen to be successful in other words he has chosen to follow his destiny. Success once again is not attain by chance but is attain by choice. Ask any failure and he will tell you success is by chance. Ask any successful man and he will tell you success is by choice. I sincerely believe that failures think that success is by chance that’s why they fail and successful people think success is by choice that’s why they succeed.
I conclude by saying this; the entire necessary ingredient needed to cook the food of success has been given to us by God, whether we cook it or not depend on us and us only. God will help only if you allow him to. The first step to success is therefore to believe that success is possible for everyone but not for some few people. The second step is to know that you are responsible for your own success. The third step is to make a firm decision to be successful after this you have one big question to answer; how do I become successful? I will be posting more articles on how one can attain success. You can visit this blog every month to read more articles on success. Never forget this; with God all things are possible. Include God in anything that you do and you shall be a blessing.
